Cronin Park
Jeremiah J. Cronin Park is a 1 acre park in the Arlington Neighborhood. The park is across from the Tarbox School at the intersection of Alder and Juniper Streets. Cronin Park celebrated its centenary in 2010 and the Tarbox School is even older – we’re so pleased to be celebrating the Arlington Neighborhood with this improvement.
Cronin Park Ribbon Cutting was Thursday June 17th, 2010. The entire Tarbox School came out and cheered and counted down to the ribbon cutting. Some students also helped plant some veggies in two of the new garden beds.
Project Overview
About the Renovation and Funding
In 2009 the City received funding to renovate this park through the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs P.A.R.C. funding. In September 2009, the City received bids for the construction of the park to begin. The low-bidder was Quirk Construction who also built Kennedy Playstead in 2007. The renovation included a large playground, lawn and landscaping improvements, and community garden and outdoor classroom space. The students of the Tarbox helped Groundwork Lawrence and the Landscape Architect, Steve Cosmos of Cosmos Associates, decide what type of elements to include in the park’s redevelopment.
