Call for Eco-Art for Glow!

Eco-Art at Glow Gala is an annual showcase of vibrant and imaginative creations that embody the principles of the 4 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Repair. Each year, Groundwork Lawrence receives a diverse array of colorful pieces, presented during the Glow Gala evening. Eco-Art celebrates sustainability through artistic expression, highlighting the beauty of repurposed materials and the importance of environmental consciousness.

Groundwork Lawrence invites you to celebrate 25 years of our projects, partnerships, and programs during Glow Gala 2024. The event features the much loved Eco-Art Exhibit, Silent Auction, raffles, food & beverages, and a dynamic speaking program which includes a presentation from our Green Team.

Create and Share Your Eco-Art!

Your art can make a difference at this year’s Glow Gala. Groundwork Lawrence invites you to submit creative pieces of Eco-Art that thematically represent Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Repair. Artwork is auctioned at Glow Gala to an attendance of more than 250 people who love the environment and are looking to buy your art!

You may select to donate the entire proceeds of your artwork to Groundwork Lawrence’s mission or to split them 50/50. We believe your art can change the world. Please join us.

Eco-Art FAQs

  • What is Eco-Art?
    Eco-Art incorporates at least one of the “4 R’s” (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair).

  • What is the deadline to submit art?
    Please let us know if you’d like to submit by Friday, October 18th. Your artwork must be delivered to the Groundwork Lawrence office at 50 Island Street, Suite 101, Lawrence, by Monday, October 28th by 5:00 pm.

  • When is the Glow Gala?
    This year’s Glow Gala will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, and we’ll celebrate 25 Years of Groundwork Lawrence!

  • Do I have to fill out a registration form?
    Yes, for each piece (up to 3 pieces) to be in the auction, you must submit a registration form along with your artwork.

  • Will I receive the full bid amount for my artwork?
    We believe it is important that the work of the artist be recognized and the time to create it appreciated. Our Glow Gala is, however, our signature fundraising event, so we split the proceeds with the artist 50/50. Should you choose to do so, you may donate the full bid amount to GWL, but it is not our expectation.

  • What is a good minimum bid price for my artwork?
    We suggest a minimum bid of $75 or under.

  • What kind of artwork has been submitted in the past?
    Anything and everything is made from eco-friendly materials or representing an environmental theme. This includes artwork made from shredded catalogs, lamps made from “rescued roadside treasures,” paintings on used/discarded furniture, lanterns made from reclaimed wood, and sculptures from reclaimed metal and tools.
