Hubbard Place

Located adjacent to Bourgoin Square Park and the Lawrence Rail Trail, is Hubbard Place.

This paper road provides access to a former coal chute. For years it has been a yard for the processing of automobiles into parts.

Hubbard Place Details

Groundwork, in partnership with the City of Lawrence, has been working for several years with the property owners to improve the functioning of the park and create a neighborhood connection to the Lawrence Rail Trail.  The goal is to swap interests in land to increase the area of the park through the remediation of a portion of the property where the coal chute was located. This will create the space for a wide the soccer field at Bourgoin Square Park and improve the functioning of the abutting auto related businesses.

With funding from the USEPA Brownfield Multipurpose Program, Groundwork looks forward to advancing this important project in the fall of 2024.
