Groundwork Lawrence (GWL) invites sealed bids from General Contractors for the construction of the Spicket River Greenway in Lawrence, Massachusetts, in accordance with the documents prepared by Hammer+Walsh Design.
The Project consists of: The Spicket River Greenway is a 3.5 mile linear park that links existing parks along the Spicket River. The project consists of demolition of existing site improvements, clearing and grubbing; excavation, filling and grading, ornamental planting, hydroseeding, overlook and elevated walkway construction, paving, rain garden construction, site lighting, and installation of site improvements such as benches and trash receptacles.
The work is estimated to cost $ 2,100,000
Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.30 § 39M and to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.l49 §§26 to 27H inclusive and to federal Davis-Bacon prevailing wage requirements.
General Bids will be received until 2:00 p.m., May 18, 2011 and publicly opened and read aloud, forthwith at Groundwork Lawrence, 60 Island Street, 3rd floor, Lawrence MA.
Mailed Bids should be sent to Groundwork Lawrence, Attn: Brad Buschur, 60 Island Street, Lawrence, MA 01840 and received no later than the date & time specified above.
General bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit that is not less than five (5%) of the greatest possible bid amount (considering all alternates), and made payable to Groundwork Lawrence.
To the extent practical General Bidders should agree to contract with minority and women-owned businesses as certified by the State Office of Minority and Women Business Assistance (SOMWBA).

There is a plan deposit of $50 per set (maximum of 2 sets) payable to Groundwork Lawrence.
Deposits must be a certified or cashier's check. This deposit will be refunded for up to two sets for general bidders upon return of the sets in good condition within thirty days of receipt of general bids. Otherwise the deposit shall be the property of Groundwork Lawrence. Additional sets may be purchased for $50.00
Bidders requesting Contract Documents to be mailed to them shall include a separate check for $50 per set, payable Groundwork Lawrence, to cover mail handling costs.
Bidder to furnish certification documents for all employees to be employed in the project subject to this bid showing that they have successfully completed a course in construction safety and health approved by the United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration that is at least ten hours in duration.
A pre-bid conference will be held at 10 A.M. and 11 A.M. on May 4 at: Chesters, 60 Island Street, Lawrence, MA 01840.
