North Canal Workshops!

Join us with the City of Lawrence and various other partners for two days of discussion on how to make the North Canal District a better place! We are seeking input from the community on ways to improve the area's parks, streets, and the canal. We will be meeting at Union Crossing, 50 Island Street on Saturday April 13th 10:00am-2:00pm and Monday April 23rd 5:30pm-8:30pm. Bring the kids because food and childcare will be provided!

Join Us at the MHTF's 2nd Youth Career and Family Resource Fair this Saturday!

This Saturday, March 31st from 10am to 2pm, at the Boys and Girls Club on Water Street, the Mayor's Health Task Force is hosting it's second Youth Career and Family Resource Fair. Groundwork Lawrence along with tons of other local and regional organizations, businesses, schools and professionals will be present to share resources and discuss different career and education paths. Please join us!

Can you share your skills in sustainable landscaping?

Groundwork Lawrence is looking for instructors and presenters for both classroom subjects and hands-on practice for a Sustainable Landscaping and Brownfield Parkscaping Training Program to be held in Lawrence. Trainees will learn basic skills in soils and plants, sustainable landscaping practices, and have exposure to remediation and restoration projects led by industry experts. The program is to include hands-on training including planting techniques with perennials, shrubs, or trees; pruning and maintenance of existing landscapes; removal and management of invasives; basics of stormwater management including erosion control and LID; and local site visits.

This program is a joint venture with the Merrimack Valley Workforce Investment Board and is part of an Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training Grant funded by the Environmental Protection Agency. Recruitment and career skills development are coordinated with the Valleyworks Career Center

Earth Day, Comcast Cares Day scheduled for Saturday April 21, 2012!

Join GWL, the Green Team, Comcast, the City of Lawrence, Mayor's Health Task Force, and many more partner's in this year of cleaning up and beautification of our city of Lawrence. Last year we had 845 volunteers accross over 20 sites city wide. Help us reach our goal of 1,000 this year!
You can participate individually or as group. If your group has an specific beautification project in mind for your neighborhood and you would like to lead the project, we will love to hear from you.
