Spicket River Greenway Photos of the Week - November 19-23

Last week on Veterans Day, as Lawrence residents were remembering and celebrating the brave men and women whom have served our country, bright blue skies and unseasonably warm temperatures made for a perfect day to get outside and explore. Laura went for a walk along the Greenway and shared some of her photos with us. Red and yellow leaves hanging over the river, and a shot of a large American Crow showcase late fall in Lawrence!

Bird Watching with the Green Team

Last week Groundwork Lawrence’s Green Team began a new project documenting some of the many bird species living in Lawrence’s largest urban wild, Den Rock Park. Our project began at GWL’s headquarters where the Green Team members learned about bird conservation, bird migration, and bird identification. We even had real live (well, they were alive at some point) museum specimens to get a closer look at perspective of some of Lawrence’s bird species.

Spicket River Greenway Photo of the Day - We Need Your Help!

Every week we want to post a new Spicket River Greenway Photo of the Week, and with so much happening all the time on and around the Greenway we need your help to capture it all! Next time you head out for a walk on the Greenway bring your camera or your smart-phone and keep your eyes peeled for anything interesting. It could be pictures of birds and squirrels, to kids playing, or skateboarders at the Misserville Skate Park. If something catches your eye take a picture, send it to us and it could end up being the next Spicket River Greenway Photo of the Week!

Shawsheen River Trail Cleanup on 10/20!

As Groundwork Lawrence's MassLIFT AmeriCorps member, I will be holding monthly service projects with Green Team to improve different environmental issues in Lawrence. During this month's event, we will clean up one of Lawrence's most beautiful trails, the Shawsheen River Trail, which is located behind the South Lawrence East School Complex. All are welcome, and we'd love for you to stop by! If any student needs community service hours, this is an excellent event to attend.

The cleanup will run this Saturday, 10/20, from 9am-12pm. We hope to see you there!
